Prompts built into the ordering flow that grow the check — without raising a single menu price.

Upselling tools are the app's version of a good waiter: "Sauce with those wings? Make it a combo? You're $4 from free delivery." In the Dots app these prompts are built into the product card, the cart, and the checkout — configured by you, shown automatically, and never dependent on whether a tired cashier remembers to ask.

Why the extra $3 is your most profitable revenue

Every delivery order carries fixed costs: the courier trip, the packaging, the payment fee. Those costs are the same whether the ticket is $18 or $24. So the dessert or drink added to an existing order arrives with no extra delivery cost attached — most of it falls straight through to margin. Raising average order value is the cheapest way to grow revenue because the customer, the courier, and the kitchen slot are already paid for. The tactics and the math are in our guide to increasing average order value.

How it works in the Dots app

You get four levers, all configured in the admin panel. Recommended items: attach suggestions to specific products — wings show sauces, coffee shows croissants — and the app offers them on the product card and in the cart. Modifiers and add-ons: extra cheese, double meat, size upgrades, each with its own price. Combos: bundle a main, side, and drink at a price that beats the sum of parts — the classic trade of a small discount for a reliably bigger ticket. Threshold nudges: with a minimum order or free-delivery threshold set on your delivery zones, the cart shows "add $4 for free delivery" — and customers routinely add $6 of product to save $3 of fee. Attach rates per suggestion show up in analytics, so you keep the prompts that sell and cut the ones that annoy.

Who gets the most out of it

  • Pizza and sushi — dips, drinks, and extra toppings are near-pure-margin attachments.
  • Coffee shops — the pastry prompt on every latte is the oldest upsell in the trade, now automated.
  • Anyone with a free-delivery threshold — the nudge converts delivery cost into product revenue.
